Highlight: Thousands of wildebeests giving birth in Serengeti and Ngorongoro region! Within 3 weeks starting from around the second week of February almost all pregnant wildebeests give birth. Besides being present at this spectacular event, you will also visit Tarangire National Parks and Ngorongoro Crater.

Wildebeest are spread out in Ndutu, Ngorongoro area, Nasera Rock and Southern Serengeti. Each year has a different pattern depending on rain falls and food availability.

This route can be done at any time of the year with fewer days in the Ndutu region but visits to other parks instead and we will adjust the location in the Serengeti according to the animal’s location.

Arusha - Tarangire
After breakfast you will leave Arusha town and are heading to Tarangire. After checking in at the park entrance enjoy your first game drive until late afternoon. The baobab trees as well as the many elephants will attract your attention. Picnic lunch.

Today you spend the whole day in the bush. The game drive takes you to the swamps and you drive through baobab forests looking out for cats and other game. Look up the trees near the swamp, there might be a lion, a leopard or a large python snake sleeping on it. Tarangire has beautiful sceneries with many elephant families and other wild animals moving dotting it.

Tarangire - Lake Manyara National park
After breakfast you will say bye to the crew and depart to Lake Manyara National Park. Weather permitting you will enter from the interesting South and so see the whole
extension of the great park while moving North along the foot of the slope of the Great Rift Valley. At the hot springs you find algae growing in the hot water and hippos resting. You then move North into dry and ever green forests. Lake Manyara has many faces and a lot of wildlife. Later in the afternoon you will leave the park and buy some special fruits growing on the fertile soil of Mto wa Mbu.

Lake Manyara National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area Ndutu woodlands
From Lilac Campsite and Tented Camp you will proceed to Ndutu woodlands within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After passing Ngorongoro crater rim you will descend through a really impressive landscape down towards Ndutu area. Already on the way you might come across herds of wildebeests and zebras on the plains.

Today you explore this fantastic region. Predators and prey live close to each other and you might be lucky to witness a hunting scene. Walking with a ranger is always a special adventure and great experience and you will enjoy it. Within the lodge compound you will encounter zebras, dikdiks, genets and lots of birds.

Ndutu Woodlands – Serengeti National Park
During the morning hours you will spend time with the herds of wildebeests and zebras and have an open eye for predators waiting for their chance to get food. For hot lunch you will return to Ndutu Safari lodge. You now start heading North to the Moru Kopjes where the crew has set up the camp on a private campsite.

Serengeti National Park
You will have plenty of time to explore the Serengeti, one of the most beautiful National Parks in the world with an incredible abundance and variety of wildlife. Your journey is adapted to your travel period: During the month January to March normally approx. 2.5 million animals are on their “Great Migration” in Southern Serengeti! According to the rainfalls in these months the herds move southwards. You will have the chance to participate in this worldwide unique spectacle and from mid of February witness when they calve! As our safaris have no limit of mileage and time (within park regulations), you will get to know the Serengeti in total – You will therefore also visit Ngong Hill and Moru Kopjes - known as “Islands in the Sea of Grass”.

Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater
Once more you say good-bye to the camp crew. In the morning you still have time to watch wildlife before you proceed to Shifting Sands and Oldupai Gorge. Here you will learn about the evolution of human and animals as well as excavation work. You have picnic lunch with you and start driving up to the crater rim in the afternoon. From the lodge you have a great view down into the 2nd largest caldera of the world.

Ngorongoro Crater
The steep road will take you 600 m from the crater rim down to the crater floor. Here you will spend the whole day up to 18.00 hours when the gate will close. Around 30.000 mammals live throughout the year inside the crater. So you will have good chances to find big elephant bulls, lions, many spotted hyenas and with some luck black rhinos.

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – Kilimanjaro International Airport
After breakfast on this day of safari you will depart from Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha. On the way you will visit Meserani Snake park where you get to see and know some of the snakes in East Africa hard to find in the wild. Adjacent is an interesting Maasai Museum. After lunch in a restaurant it will soon be time to get to the airport.
